Postdoctoral Program

At IBP there are 19 postdoctoral fellows in 14 research labs, representing 9 different nationalities.

Entry Routes

If you would like to do postdoctoral research at IBP, please apply to individual Group coordinators. Also check the Job opportunity section of the IBP-CNR website for any postings of  Group coordinators actively seeking postdocs.
As second entry route applicants wishing to join the IBP can fill in the requisite form. This completed form should then be sent, together with the applicant’s CV, by e-mail to the following address: segreteria@ibp.cnr.itFollowing this submission and the evaluation of the applications,
the selected applicants will be interviewed by an internal interview panel. The IBPoP PostDoc program is intended to be cross-disciplinary in nature. To foster collaborations, fellows can be affiliated with two Principle Investigators working in different disciplines.

PhD Program

The Institute of Protein Biochemistry along with other CNR institutes in Naples (IGB, IBB) hosts a Joint PHD Programme with the Second University of Naples (SUN) on “Biomolecular Sciences” (BSPhDP).  The BSPhDP offers scientific training and research at the cutting edge and incorporates pharmacology, advanced photonics, systems biology, genetics, immunology, and biochemistry approaches to the more traditional fields of cell and developmental biology. The spectrum of the research carried out at IBP in the frame of the BSPhDP extends from the analysis of individual molecules to that of complex biological systems; it includes experimental, computational and theoretical approaches that aim at understanding complex cellular, developmental, and immunological processes in physiology and pathology.

Challenging research, interdisciplinary training, expert supervision, international training exchanges, and state-of-art facilities characterize the BSPhDP, which is dedicated to provide the optimal conditions for early stage researchers scientific growth in a highly attractive and inspiring environment.
We welcome applications of outstanding and highly motivated university graduates who wish to work towards a PhD within the scope of the BSPhDP and who hold an undergraduate degree from the following disciplines: life sciences, natural sciences, engineering, computer science, physics or applied mathematics.
Applicants wishing to join the BSPhDP should fill in the requisite form. This completed form should then be sent, together with the applicant’s CV, by e-mail to the following address: segreteria@ibp.cnr.itFollowing this submission and the evaluation of the applications,
the selected applicants will be interviewed by an internal interview panel.

Undergraduate Programme

The Institute of Protein Biochemistry welcomes outstanding and motivated undergraduate students willing to prepare their master thesis at the IBP to apply for the IBP Undergraduate Programme (IBPUnP). The IBPUnP offers highest quality scientific training and research in the fields of pharmacology, advanced photonics, genetics, immunology, biochemistry, and cell biology.
Challenging research environment, interdisciplinary training, expert supervision, and state-of-art facilities characterize the I IBP UnP, which is dedicated to complement the textbook knowledge with real research experience in a highly attractive and inspiring environment. We welcome applications of undergraduate students from the following disciplines: life sciences, natural sciences, engineering, computer science, physics or applied mathematics to the IBPUnP.Applicants wishing to join the IBPUnP should fill in the requisite form. This completed form should then be sent, together with the applicant’s CV, by e-mail to the following address: segreteria@ibp.cnr.itFollowing this submission and the evaluation of the applications,
the selected applicants will be interviewed by an internal interview panel.

Science outreach

  EN   IT

Since many years the Institute of Protein Biochemistry (IBP) deserves special attention to science communication and training for students of middle and high schools through the organization of scientific events, such as seminars and on-hands experiments in cell biology, chemistry, immunology and protein biochemistry. In this context, the mission of IBP is to attract young students to science world with fascinating talks and experiments performed by the researchers of the institute.

As part of the Science outreach program “The School meets The Research”, the Institute of Protein Biochemistry opens its laboratories to the middle and high school students, to show them the different experimental phases, from the extraction of DNA, the detection of micro and macronutrients of the cell, the visualization of cell cycles, or how the immune cells identify and neutralize infectious agents.

Moreover, thanks to the efforts of sophisticated programs, students will embark on fascinating digital trips, from discovering the protein structure to how it was possible the evolution of life in Antarctic cold climate. The school will also be accompanied in the exploration of high-tech processes which led to the discovery of innovative enzymes to improve the human health, or to fight the alarming environmental changes.
